How to Test Your Security System
It’s important to routinely perform a test of your security system to make sure all the detection devices and alarm monitoring are working correctly. We recommend to perform this test at least once a month.
To test your security system perform the following steps:
1. Notify the central monitoring station that you will be testing your system. Call 877-608-4825 Option 4. You will need to provide your address and password to authorize the test.
2. Set your alarm system like you normally would.
3. Trip the sensors you would like to test.
If your system includes smoke sensors or carbon monoxide sensors, press/hold the test button on the detector until the unit sounds. You can test these sensors without having to arm the system first since they are always active.
If your system includes wireless motion sensors keep in mind these units may have a battery save feature that only allows them to be tripped once every few minutes, so you’ll need to stay out of the view of the motion sensor for at least 5 minutes before starting the test.
4. Make sure the siren has been sounding for at least 30 seconds before disarming your system.
5. Call the central station back to ensure we have received your test signals.
